Cara Delevigne "IV Drippin"

The picture that put people off getting "hooked"

There is a latest "craze" in the celeb world - that is to attach yourself to an IV (Intravenous - "within vein") after an extreme night out.

Rihanna's "IV Drippin"
According to celeb world, Rihanna was the first to introduce this back in 2012 when she tweeted that she was using an IV drip to hydrate herself quickly after a night out. Apparently she was rushed to hospital where they attached her to a drip, although that night she had been out partying hard at a gig and then at a strip club and taking drugs.

Last summer there was a frenzy of paying nearly $1000 for a drip containing a cocktail of vitamins being pumped directly into the veins of celebs and athletes alike. what is wrong with just taking four Berocca?

So anyway, five days ago Cara Delevigne put quite a scary looking photo on Instagram showing that she was hooked up to an IV, that definitely is not for the eyes of some Instagram viewers, I know I couldn't look at it for long. She jumped to twitter to explain that she was just having vitamins pumped into her as she was feeling like she had a "cold" - sounds like a very normal way to deal with a cold. Celebs are getting a lot of bad publicity for this kind of treatment, especially if they use it as a way to deal with hangovers. Something just doesn't seem right about it, or safe. It wastes the hospitals time as well.

After taking someone to hospital because they were so drunk and seeing them having to be hooked to a drip so they could be hydrated quickly was a horrible site and I can imagine not one he enjoyed either (even though he was out of it). But he won't be and I won't be ever getting to that stage after witnessing that.

Any thoughts on this extreme way of rehydrating?
Coconut water?

The late night post

This is the icon.
Its 23:30 and after two hours of the famous Kit Kat Chit Chat, a 25 minute run (which, just as a sidetrack I am not happy about because I went for a long, slow run and set RunKeeper on start and  I was hopping along singing merrily away to Lorde when I forget to press stop when I had finished - only to find out 2 hours later when it apparently takes me over two and a half hours to run nearly 3 miles - I said I was running slow but not turtle speed - this is another thing, can you say "turtle speed" because aside from a dodgy-sounding drug, turtles don't real "speed" anywhere do they? - we'll stick with pace. So basically the reason for that rant was to remind people to stop their RunKeeper or forever be seen as a turtle-paced runner. end.) and a lecture on what IS (information systems) actually is, its much clearer now, just, and a lecture about sampling with Santa Claus I am about to catch up on the daily news - on Vine. I've had Vine now for sometime (like 5 months?) and have posted potentially 2 videos? And have found Instagram to be much better for videos. But I have recently stumbled across some very comical videos. Now I have got to this point in the post and have only just realised that Vine don't have a website - of course they don't! so er, I can't link you to my profile or funny videos because the Vine-ers are still clearly working on their website issues. But if you don't have Vine and you are in the 21st century with an iPhone or an Android then get the app and watch some hilarious videos from these people (I can't describe the videos, you have to watch them to understand): Brandon Calvillo, MAX JR, Klarity, DeStorm, Jerry Purpdrank and then add me "Ruth Smith" - very imaginative - then you won't have to add everyone else because I always revine - thats like retweeting - or just follow me on Twitter where I usually share the Vines to.

Oh and after typing into our good brother "Google" I manage to find MAX JR's profile - MAX JR Vine Profile

He's funny.

Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite

p.s. I know I'm great at typos - please tell me, I usually wear reading glasses but for some reason don't when I write a blog post so I apologise for the spelling mistakes!x

Reminiscing

I got Twitter because someone I "liked" at the time had it and it seemed like a great idea because he never used Facebook (as a 15 year old...).

I have been through over 3 years worth of Tweets - seen the most depressing tweets ever, sitting my GCSE's, getting into Sixth Form, dealing with boys at school, the amount of injuries I have had (more than the number of exams I've taken!), seen success (and failures... read on...), getting into University, my first nights out, first shifts at work and meeting some crazy mental people (friends?) and overall I can say my Twitter history is very fruitful and has been very interesting to look through!

You should look at yours!!

So my first Tweet was:

I was clearly using Twitter like Facebook...

Enjoy...

I had a boyfriend?!

Wow I was philosophical at 17

"effing hilar" enough said

Ahh another "athletic" tweet - after I cycled from London to Derbyshire with a team for Sport Relief

Still needs to be sorted out

Idea now has a H at the end...

The awful news of £9000 a year

GIRL POWER!

This tweet I retweeted keeps filling my head!

Ahh the latest work blunder

Have fun looking back at your own tweets!

Tuesday, 30 July 2013

and so I start a blog.

I've been putting it off for months, maybe even a year now.

I was going to do it when I started University last September, but I guess the life of a fresher is far more important.

Anyway, as we are in the middle of a very long (never too long) summer break I believe it is time. As recent events in my life are definitely worth sharing, its never been a better time.

So here is it, the blog of Ruth Hannah Smith (not famous, yet.), the fitness addict, cake addict, all things Jane Austin addict (soon to venture to the Brontë's), modern day Mozart (ha), traditional waitress ("the sea bream is a river fish" - yes, really), business student (now 2nd year, it flies), Durham University, sister to non, daughter to two, friend to many (I hope), girlfriend to non, ever (and so it shall stay, through choice).

That's me, in a curly walnut shell. I'll blog anything and everything - this is basically me stretching out of my 140 character Twitter limit (crazy fools). Twitter you ask? - @RuthHannahSmith

I know this is the start of something that will probably have me more hooked then Champagne - Veuve Clicqout Ponsardin (vintage), if you must know, its my 20th in December.

Ciao,
